SREANG Pisey

SREANG Pisey is an emerging Artist born in Battambang - one of the cultural centers for new art in Cambodia.  He studied wood carving at high school, and under the guidance of his father.  While helping his father run the family wood carving shop, he discovered his own passion for the medium and decided to it his life’s work. Since 2012, he has focused on his own creations and has won recognition and praise. He placed first in the Sculpture category of the Cambodia Fine Art Contest at the Royal university of Fine Art, Phnom Penh. Guided by Japanese guest professor and artist Takakazu YAMADA, he is discovering and nurturing his own creativity, and is always looing forward to the next exhibition to showcase his work.

SREANG Pisey est un nouveau venu, né à Battambang, il fréquente l’un des centres d’Art du Cambodge. Il a étudié la sculpture sur bois au collège  sous la supervision de son père. Tout en aidant son père dans sa boutique de sculptures sur bois, il s’est découvert une vraie passion pour ce matériau et décide d’y consacrer sa vie professionnelle. Depuis 2012 il se concentre sur ses propres créations et gagne ainsi reconnaissance et félicitations. Il commence par se présenter dans la discipline Sculpture à un concours de l’Université des Beaux Arts de Phnom Penh.  Guidé par un Maître Japonais Takakazu Yamada, artiste en résidence au Cambodge, il découvre et travaille sa propre créativité. Il est à l’affût  d’une prochaine exposition pour montrer ses œuvres.
